The NTPU-LEEDS Joint Early Career Researchers Workshop Call for ParticipantsIntroduction

Youth development stands as a cornerstone for individual prosperity and societal progress. Recognizing its significance, the NTPU flagship projects aim to understand the condition of youth development in Taiwan, focusing particularly on three key aspects: school-to-work transition, financial inclusion, and youth with disabilities. Furthermore, the rapid development of ICT, mobile devices, social media, and new internet applications has had a notable impact on contemporary society, particularly in the lives of youth. Previous findings from the NTPU flagship project have identified how ICT development affects youth development in Taiwan, including the identification of interactive relationships among delivery persons, unions, and states, the exploration of how fintech shapes youth investment behaviors, and the examination of disabled students' experiences with remote learning tools during the pandemic. Building on these findings, the NTPU-LEEDS Joint Early Career Researchers Workshop aims to address these issues from a global perspective. Hence, this joint workshop invites those who are interested in the aforementioned issues, or related issues under the topic “Youth Development in the Digital Era,” to contribute their insights.

Participants
The NTPU-LEEDS Jointed Early Career Researchers Workshop aims to provide PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, and assistant professors who interested in school to work transition, financial inclusion, and youth with disabilities under the digital era, or other related issues under the “Youth Development in the Digital Era”.

Goal
Our goal is to assist participants in navigating their ongoing papers towards publishable articles while fostering networking opportunities within the academic community.

Format
To ensure the quality of this workshop, we will limit the number of participants to 6-9 people. Each session will be led by one mentor, distinguished experts in their respective fields, who will guide discussions in a seminar style. Participants will receive feedback on their work from the section mentor and are also expected to provide constructive comments on others' work. Additionally, there will be a dedicated section for participants to formulate and express responses to the critiques they receive. Our workshop accepts only in-person participants to facilitate active engagement and collaboration. Participants are required to submit their full-text drafts by July 31st, allowing ample time for other scholars to review them before the sessions. Moreover, scholars will be assigned to present participants' papers, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of blind spots in their articles.

Benefit
The selected participant will enjoy accommodation and meals during the workshop period. Additionally, they will benefit from mentorship in the aforementioned fields. These mentors will not only provide insights into their research findings but also share their experiences on how to survive in an academic career.

Mentorship
This joint workshop will invite 3-6 mentors to each topic (the remaining mentors will be announced later).
